A new project has begun today! Ways of Seeing is a project that uses familiar in a unfamiliar way. I have went to the Brick Lane market yesterday to find the 34 'somethings'. I tried to change the direction of sight I normally look at to everything above me and below me. Having done that, I have realised there are so many beautiful things around us that we will miss out very easily in our daily life.
We are asked to produce 10 designs and 6 models today which I found this quite challenging and I have failed to complete the task. I could not decide between two of my ideas, so I have decided to make some models in order to help me making a decision. Model making was the most time cosuming part plus I did not bring the right materials with me so I have decided to go on to the e-store to get some materials for tommorrow's model making.
Today I have decided to take one of my ten designs further. It is a knuckle duster that protects female when they are in dangerous situation for example, attack by mashers. Having the workshop induction day on last Friday really helped me alot in this project, because it is hard to only use basic tools like scissors and papers to create a jewellery model for me. My model requires cutting acrylic boards into small pieces and also changing the shape by heating it. Working in the workshop for the first time was exciting as nearly everything is new to me. Seeing a finished product is super satisfying and I have really enjoyed making it. Tom has suggested to use leather for my knuckle duster and I think this is quite a good idea but that means I might also have to change the material of the 'broken glasses' that was originally mirrored acrylic to match the style of leather.
