Eat Up 2

Project Day 4

As this is a 2 weeks project, I found it much less stressful when we have enough time to think about what to do and model making. To get a mold of my foot, I have used cling film to wrap around my foot as the first layer and masking tape as the second layer. This method is very great and helpful for my shoe model making so that I know what big of the heel I have to make.

Day 4 continued

Considering the 1st model is too flat for my shoe, I have decided to make a new mold with my foot more bended by the same method. When bending my foot, I think of the shape of foot when wearing high heels and came up with this new model.

I then created a lobster claw heel for the model by squeezing different hardness of paper into the shape and fixed it with masking tape.

The model is very soft and fragile, so I went to the casting workshop to put layers of plaster bandage on the model. Plaster bandage is thin so it did not affect the shape of the model while hardened it at the same time. I was not sure what media I should use to colour the shoe and I asked the technician, he suggested me to use spray and I think this is a very good idea.

independent working day

When planning the shoe in sketchbook, I want to give my model a silver finish with a lobstery colour for the insole of the shoe. However, after spraying silver on the outside of the shoe, I think it is too boring and monotonous. I decided to add some red, yellow and gold to the shoe to make it more 'lobster'. I really like the outcome especially the gradual change of colour from the heel to the shoe.
